I remember being rocked by the Dabble DB demo reel a few months ago when I first saw it, but not being able to think of anything I needed it for. Now I have my first application. My school has a bunch of different ways people can announce things to students and faculty: Announcements are read over the intercom 3 times a week, the in-school live cable TV show run by students plays in homeroom other 2 days a week, plus there’s a weekly paper bulletin distributed to teachers, and the school web site. Each one of these channels has a different mechanism (sometimes several) for receiving announcement requests: paper in a mailbox, email, and in-person requests. Wouldn’t it be nice, I thought, if there was one place to go for making an announcement? Dabble DB is helping me provide the answer, and it’s been really fun creating the structure and setting up the forms (which they call pages) for accepting new data. Fun with a database? It’s true.
