Game Report from MacArthur

A quick hit from my email: A new national survey (PDF) finds that virtually all American teens play computer, console, or mobile phone games and that the gaming experience is rich and varied, with significant social interaction and potential for civic engagement.

“Playing games with others in person is related to civic and political outcomes, but playing with others online is not.”

The above was only true for 42% survey participants. I wouldn’t have summarized this as “significant social potential”.

Try reading “Everything Bad is Good For You” ttp://tinyurl.com/36yvo5 although you can probably get it from a library.

It was a great read and while I dont believe all the principles that he states, I think its an interesting thing to consider.
